The World Business Dialogue (WBD) is the world’s largest student-run business convention. On March 16th and 17th, 2011, the University of Cologne once again hosted this internationally renowned convention for the 14th time, organized by about 40 ambitious students. Bayer took part at this special event as Bayer has been sponsor of the Organisationsforum Wirtschaftskongress (OFW e.V.) for many years. Bayer awarded three students with a full sponsorship for this amazing event! Jonathan (Universidad Metropolitana, Venezuela), Gabriela (Universidad Central de Venezuela, Venezuela) and Marcia (Universidad de Córdoba, Argentina) have been our special guests. Besides taking-over all travel-, board- and lodging costs, these students have had the possibility for extensive first-hand talks with Dr. Richard Pott (Labor Director at Bayer) and Bernd Schmitz (Head of Bayer Bayer University & Talent Relations). During a guided tour through Bayer’s communication center “BayKomm” Jonathan, Gabriela and Marcia had the possibility to gain a deeper inside into the different operational areas of Bayer. One day before the WBD, Bayer presented itself at the exclusive recruiting fair, with about 1.000 selected students, to inform about career perspectives at Bayer – A perfect chance for these selected students to get information about career possibilities from representatives of the Bayer University & Talent Relations department and to get to know various experts from other departments. On March 16th and 17th about 300 top-class representatives from economy and politics entered a discussion about economically and socially relevant, future-oriented topics with 300 international students – dealing with the main issue “Managing Complexity – The Art of the Collective Consequences” . During this forum Dr. Pott awarded Jonathan with the Student Award for the most extraordinary application to this year’s World Business Dialogue (out of about 300.000 applications in total) – with focus on criteria such as creativity, innovativeness and personality. Moreover, Dr. Pott spoke about the topic “Complexity Approach at Bayer” in his Executive Session and discussed this issue with the participant students and executives. Jonathan applied with an outstanding video positing via YouTube referring to the complexity-topic. Many thanks for this great and inspiring video!
